On Thursday, I'm going back up North to meet up with a school-friend, whom I got in touch with after 20yrs!!!!
I'll be staying with her and her family for a couple of nights, her hubby is VERY anti-smoking, and I'm a full-time smoker (my only vice ;) ). While I would never even consider smoking in a non-smokers house, would it be considered rude, if I nipped outside for a quick cig (making sure their children didn't see); and if so should I take my own ashtray ??
All opinions appreciated, apart from the ones with tips/hint/suggestions on giving up 'the weed' :) :)

I can't see a huge problem with going outside to smoke, that's what people do when they come to my house, and I don't have a problem. As to giving up, the only sure fire way I managed it was to get pregnant!!! :) A bit drastic tho

The words "Pot" and "kettle" spring to mind JG! :D

It's been a
whole week, Chloe!

After four days of twitching, I managed to walk past an internet cafe in Newquay without screaming
very loudly......

you went on holiday - somewhere with no internet - what kind of
holiday is that anyway?

:D
there's nothing worse than going cold turkey either

:D

4 days of torrential rain and gales, followed by 3 days of wall-to-wall sunshine, heat, and sunburn!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
But no Champdogs. :(
But now I'm back!!
:)
Well!!! I had to think of something !!!!!!!!! :) :D

I think as long as you ask I dont see what the problem is .
I dont smoke but I wouldnt stop someone else from doing so ( especially outside ) . I know some people are very anti smoking but surely outside is ok ??? :)

When people come here they go outside to have a smoke....when I go to my moms she too has to go outside in her own house because I don't want her smoking in the house with my children there. My son is very alergic to smoke and I don't want him to end up on a puffer again.
As long as the children are not down wind from the smoke I can't see it being a problem and I think its very nice of u to consider to just go outside :) Watch out for open windows too smoke always finds a way in :( Hubby's friends were over and they were outside smoking by our back door and the window was open and boy could I smell it in the house, so I shut the door :D
ttfn :)
Hi Dollface
Thanks for your post, I don't want my friends young children seeing me smoke, and asking all the questions that kids ask, I enjoy my habit, but don't want to encourage anyones kids to experiment with it, if you know what I mean?

I smoke and most of my family don't, i always go outside for one and the kids still understand that it's a bad habbit. So do as you would as long as no one minds.

Hi Liberty,
I don't think it would be rude going outside to smoke...t'wud be more rude staying in the house and lighting up.
Just excuse yourself to your company "whilst you pop outside for a few minutes". That's what I do when with non-smokers, and IMO, I think you're better thought of for NOT requesting to smoke in their home.
Have a good time.

No it wouldn't. It would be rude to assume you can smoke in the house ..but not outside of it. Do NOT leave dog ends hanging around the garden though ;)
Melody :)
Hi Liberty,
I agree with Melody's post. :) However, I think your idea of taking your own ashtray would be a courtesy that I'd appreciate immensely. :) There are no ashtrays in this house so I'd be unable to provide one and I would be upset to find ash and fagbutts in the garden. But I'd have no problems with you smoking outside - downwind of me and my dog though! :D
Enjoy your reunion. Is Libby going with you? A very waggy flattie - hmmm, now that's another story! :D ;)

I don't think it's rude either, I smoke and would most certainly be more *rude*;) if I didn't manage to have a ciggie somehow:D :D Sore head and a bear spring to mind;) I wouldn't take your own ashtray though- her hubby might find that a bit cheeky, just stand on your dog ends and put them in the bin (making sure of course they're out), you could always offer to go to the shop for milk, bread etc and have one that way:)

Hi Montys Mum
I'm hoping as the weather is so warm we can sit outside, and I can have a quick ciggy (putting fagbutts in bin of course :) ), her hubby is, in her words 'a computor nerd', so I don't expect I'll see much of him.
As for the Libling, she's staying here :D but I'll still have doggy company as my friend recently aquired Millie, a Weirmaraner, can't wait to see her :)
liberty
Hi Liberty,
I see you're back! How did the reunion go? And how was Millie? I don't think I'd be able to pluck up the courage to go see someone from my dim and distant past.
Hope Libby's coping with this heat OK.
Monty's Mum :)
