Topic Dog Boards / Health / My puppy is sniffling??
- By CavalierLover [gb] Date 04.08.03 23:38 UTC
Hi everyone

Tonight i've noticed my 11wk old ckc puppy sniffling a lot. He's sniffling up/down through his nose making his nose really snotty. A couple of times i've even had to wipe under his nose. The only way i can best describe is like when a young child has the sniffles and you just want to blow your own nose for them.

I've got suspicions this could be kennel cough??? :( :( As i'm quite sure dogs don't get colds?
I think i will call the vets first thing in the morning for an appointment.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

Michelle

Kennel Cough is the canine equivalent to a Cold. That is why Antibiotics don't clear it, unlike with Flu. Antibiotics are given if a secondary infection sets in. The normal treatment for Kennel cough is to ease the symptoms by keeping the dog quiet and giving a cough medicine to ease the cough.

Dogs, and pups especially can get Hayfever type sumptoms with all the Pollen etc.
