Not sure if I have posted this in the right place, but has anyone else that shows their dogs ever noticed that the dogs come back from the shows a little grouchy!! We only show at the GSD rallies and everytime we come back my pup has a right monk on!! I spoke to another lady today who shows Springers and she said that when her dogs come back they are awful towards the other dogs and the kids ie growling at them if they get too close to her. Has this happened to anyone else?

Can't say I have noticed anything like that, there is a certain amount of sorting of the relationships, between those who have been to a show and those who stayed at home, but it passes within about 10 mins. Then they all go to sleep.

My boys are always tired when returning from a long day at a show so don't like to be bothered(no growling-just find a quiet corner)...otherwise theres no difference in there behaviour

Gus is always really tired too- he isnt irritable or growly but he does flop down for the day when we get home

Hmm - maybe it's just Aussies, or maybe because they have a rest for an hour or so on the way home BUT once they are home, the three of them try to get out of the crate all together - then rush into the garden, do two or three laps of honour of the garden, "singing" all the time - rush down to the kennels to see Thor or Gypsy (whoever's on Guard duty:D) - then slither in to see Granny Purdey - then go to the food cupboard, & wait, bums wriggling like mad, waiting for rewards!:D After that, they settle down (takes about 10 mins :D :D - and all I want all that time is a nice long G & T!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again Spanish and Aussies do seem to have the same characters at times. My 11 year old girl is exactly the same when she comes home from shows!!
