In 'normal' circumstances he should have come with a
'diet sheet' from the breeder advising you of his routine, how many times
a day to feed, and what feeding method i.e meat and biscuit or complete
they are feeding him on.
If you do intend to change his diet (food) then do so slowly! Else Bud will
have a really upset tummy. You should take at least 5 days changing over to
the new diet, by slowly introducing the new food and reducing the old food till
at the end of the 5 days all you are feeding is the new food.
Ideally you need to have a balanced diet for a growing puppy. Many of the branded
puppy range complete food can give a balanced diet. As can the old fashioned method of meat and biscuit
(along with the milky feed and eggs etc) with the right supplements (such as SA37).
I personally feed my Boxers on Nutro complete food, but also know of many that use
the 'meat and biscuit' method too. (What ever suits the dog best really). Mine tend not to suffer Boxer wind problems ;)
I am surprised that Bud did not come with a diet sheet, all my puppies went with a
comprehensive puppy pack, some food, toy and treats plus familiar smelling piece of
vet bed (comfort blanket).
Contact his breeder find out what feed that they were using and then if you feel that
Bud is not thriving or getting the right nutrition change his diet. You can always come
back to the forum for advice :)
