Topic Dog Boards / General / Terrier Rescue in AD Trader

Hubby bought Ad Trader today for an assignment and I just had to look in the pets section didn't I? :( :(

I was surprised to see a box advert for Terrier Rescue. I've never heard of them but they claimed to have rescued pedigree puppies of most breeds of terrier, including some quite rare breeds and adult terriers all of which have their own rehoming and rescue people. All were available for rehoming. Am I right to feel concerned about this or are they a proper rescue? or a dealer/puppy farm?. They seem to have only a mobile number and there's no mention of them on the list of rescues on various web sites.

Any one have any idea about this?

And I'm not going to get started on the wording of most of the ads "to good home only" as if any unsuitable person is going to ring and say "I want to give one of your pups a bad home" !! oops I already did

Hi, I would be suspicious about this especially as its a mobile phone no. Most terrier breeds have their own rescue, not one lumped together for all breeds of terrier!!!!!! Is this in the Scottish Ad Trader or one of the English ones, the breed clubs could be interested in the phone no. Can you e mail it to me, as there is an investigation by our breed clubs at the moment re some puppy farms, especially people using mobile phone nos and not a land line, mainly because if anything is wrong with the puppy the buyer cannot get back in touch with the so called breeder. They keep changing phone nos. hope this helps and explains why im interested.

This place is based in Aberystwyth. She also collects from local authority pounds and has 10 at the moment. She does not charge to take in but expects a donation when rehomed. She seems genuine, but then they all do. I, too, am suspicious as it operates under a mobile phone. Apparently she neuters before rehoming but how is this afforded?
Not sure, would not give address and only a christian name.
