I am concerned that my 3 year old Labrador Rescue bitch might have an under active thyroid. She seems very lethargic and although loves to play ball seems really dismal getting there. She always looks as though she's in the dog house.

She's got a very sensitive skin and you only have to touch her back and she scratches like mad. She has no little visitors and is flea treated regularly.

She's only on 200 grammes of food per day which is 50% James Wellbeloved Lamb/Rice + chopped raw carrots and wholegrain rice, the other 50% is wafcol riteweight. She only has two bonio's per day and yet you'd think she would be skinny but she isn't and she has an hour and a half exercise every day as I work.

She is going to the Vet on Thursday but I wondered if anyone out there recognised these conditions. I did wonder if it might be nerve damage that causing the scratching as she has a huge 'Y' shaped scar that comes down her neck and across her shoulders as a result of her last owner.

She's a lovely girl but looks old even thought she's only three.

I'm not being funny, but how do you know your dog's urine smells fishy?
