Topic Dog Boards / General / In my local paper....

Having a break at work today i was reading a copy of 'Birmingham's evening mail'
My eyes met a picture, that i had to look twice at! On a second glance i saw that it was a rottie with a 6in knife sticking out of it!! The article said this poor dog was so placid and friendly so therefore it wasnt injured in someone having to use self defence!! Luckily the dog has survived but they are still trying to find its owner... How could anyone do this??
Secondly, another article told of two b******s (sorry but theres no other word for them!) having taken an axe to kill a little 14month old jack russell. They got 6 months and 4 months in prison/ young offenders institute.
I am heartbroken to read such articles and find it distressing to read. I was once proud to call myself a 'brummie' but as both of these incidents happened in the west midlands. Im far from proud but ashamed to be a brummie.

Poor dogs....

oops just to clarify the story about the rottie... the newspaper does not in anyway link the owner with the attack on the dog.

there was a case locally in high wycombe where people where taking animals off the street and taking them back and torturing them for fun
It still makes my stomache churn to this day

I know what I would do with the little s**ts, however it's currently illegal, and I'd probably have my posting rights removed if I said what they were!!!!

Hi,

I'm from Brum too and saw the article. I was in Sutton park on the day they found the dog and spoke to one of the wardens as I do sometimes (when I see them)

They said they had got a few reports about a dog they thought a rottie who had been dumped! and could I keep an eye out. I was riding at the time. Didn't see him but read it in the paper later.

I walk Sal there often but will keep a closer eye the other people form now on. I just don't sem to have much luck with parks at the moment.

I'm originally from Brum too.....but now live in Wales, Mom and Dad still live in Brum, and they've been saving all their newspapers for me (For the pups!!) I couldn't believe it when I looked at the paper and saw that poor Rottie.
I swear, if I could get my hands on whoever did that..well...there's no telling what I'd do, but I'm sure I'd be put away for it.
I just can't get my head around it.....why would someone do that?

I have to admit, my first thought was...Oh no, someones been attacked by a Rottie and tried to defend themselves, but that was obviously not the case.

I hope the poor dog is ok.

Just wish somebody would let me at the B****** that did it.

Take care all

Hi All,

Ive heard nothing more about the rottie... im hoping he's pulling through ok.

Lets hope its a happy ending to a very disturbing, sad, and horrible story.

I saw the article when i was in West Yorkshire, not very nice at all. Some people are mentally disturbed and enjoy preying on people or animals who are weaker than themselves. Sad sad world and at the mo things just seem to be getting worse.

Its not Just Brum unfortunately it can happen any where, there was an article in the Daily mail this week, some one got 4 months for kicking to death a puppy jack russel because the puppy accidently bit him while playing tug, I can't remember where it was but it could be any where, its hapening all over.

Hi Robert,

The poor jack russell i think you are refering to was axed to death, by two so called young men. This also happened in the 'West midlands!'

Makes my blood boil!

Disgraceful, give the swines to me after I had finished with them they would be happy to spend 10 years in jail. In this day and age I find it disgusting that someone could inflict such cruelty on any animal, i even feel sorry for the birds that my stealth like cat brings in. Basically they will be out in 2months all fattened up by us paying there way... bloody disgrace

Yes Prison seems to be no deteront these days, my dad was a prison govenor for years before he retired and worked in Prisons all over the country, what makes me laugh is they say there aim is rehabillitation what this seems to include is, in one particular prison t.v, cd players in there rooms, cars of there own, also day release to go out to work in the public and earn money, all sorts of sports equipment, the list goes on. I understand this particular prison was a young offenders unit but where is the punishment.
