Are you buying a pup from a pet shop or breeding centre?
- By jackodie [gb] Date 02.08.03 08:23 UTC
it sounds like a breeding centre, a lot of different breeds on offer,
not too happy about the sounds of things, i'm going to contact a breeder instead.

Surely no registation would cost £100!!!!!!
I would steer clear!

I agree with your advice "do'nt buy it" but sure as eggs someone else will. These pet shops or unlicensed breeding stables have to be highlighted. From our records of over two years , the "wanted" ads in the Adtrader are in the region of 20 a week but approx. only 2 per week of these are genuine . The rest are from puppy farms asking for cheap or free pet as we have details of them selling pups at a later date from multiple wanted adverts. Any information we can collate to add to our dossiers would be helpful

What type of pup are you looking to buy Jackie. Mick

They are ripping you off. As everyone else says no registration costs £100.00 unless the dog is 12 months old or over!!

thank you so much for your replies, the puppy i am searching for is a
ruby cavalier, i was tempted there for a second but the more i heard the more suspicious i have become, sent the guy an email , says i can have the pup for £500 but £600 with ikc reg, i thought it was way too much,
have spoken to a breeder this afternoon, may have to wait a while, but prepared to do that, than get ripped off with a possibly sick puppy,
thank you for your advice

Hi
That's expensive, unless you are looking for a puppy which looks promising for showing, (then the breeder usually would want to keep it!)...I bought a beautiful ruby cavalier last year from a reputable breeder.....I contacted the CKCS club and was put in touch with their puppy register lady. Be prepared for the third degree.....(most welcome, too....I wouldn't have wanted anything less!!) I must have spent 2 days on the phone, until someone came up with a suitable match for me.
My baby came innoculated, insured, registered with KC, pedigree papers, food, diet sheet, eye and heart test results of parents, homeopathic remedies for the change of home!, and toys!! ......and was £425.

Please research carefully......there are some great breeders out there who's only thought is for the welfare of this lovely breed and their puppies.....there are also some people who's only interest is any money they think they can make!

Hi, it is advisable to keep clear from the premises selling the puppy. the fact that they are trying to add £100 extra for IKC Reg is a complete rip off for a start. Sounds to me as though the seller is buying the puppies in from Ireland, to do so they should have pet shop licence issued by their local Council. If you could ask I would be interested to know ( I campagn against puppy farming and the selling of puppies from retail outlets) or if you would like to email me off line with the details I will make some enquiries myself, maybe they are not licenced and that would interest me too, thank-you.
