Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice. We have a chow puppy that is now 10 weeks old and we took him for his 2nd set of shots today and the vet told us he has a slight heart murmor. On a scale or 1 to 6, 6 being the worse he is a 1. When he first got his shots at 6 weeks the vet did not say a thing about this, but now if has me very concerned as the kids are really attached to the puppy. Should I give the puppy back to the breader and call it a day before something bad happens to the puppy or will he grow out of this heart problem he has.
Thank You

i would give the breeder a call so they can watch if the others in the litter ,incase thet get the problam too,i would ask the vet to send you to a speclists vet on hearts too

Hi dont do any thing yet ask your vet if he thinks it is a puppy murmur which if it is then it usually goes away on its own? i have had a few pups with a puppy murmur which has gone by 15 weeks old get the vet to do another check in 2 weeks time and then go from there. Jackie

At that age I would forget it, wait til the pup is a good bit older and have him checked again.

I owned a King Charles Spaniel with a heart murmour and he lived to 9 years of age and then did not die from
the murmour. I would not worry about it.
I would mention it to your breeder as they need to know for future matings.
I dont know if your breed has heart testing done on parents like some breeds.
