I am thinking about getting a dog and i would be leaving my house at 8 in the morining i could pop back some days from school at lunch time and otherwise i would be home by 4 in the afternoon i was wanting some advice on of this is too long.

hi,

if there will be no one in at home, 8 hours is a long time to keep a dog on its own. when mine are left for 2 hours they go mad and chew everything and dig up the carpet. if you wanted a puppy i would say dont, it isnt fair. but older dogs tend to be ok to be left for longer periods of time but still 8 hours is too long. my next door neighbour owns a dog and when she is at work i go round for a bit at lunchtime to see to him. why not see if you could do something like that if you cant see to him every lunchtime? like i said, some are better than others at being left alone.
