Yes it is normal you help your human babies when they are teething dont you? so what is different with helping your baby pup its only 12 weeks why do people expect pups to know what to do and what not to do as soon as they get them home its gums hurt give it toys/bones and stop scruffing it when it goes to nip say no and give it its toy or bone, and yes he will keep doing it while he is a baby you have to GENTLY help him to understand that he is not to do it. Your pup is normal. Stop scruffing as this should only be used with older dogs/pups as a last resort for aggression, also scruffing should only be done by people who fully understand what they are doing. Never get kids to scruff a dog as they may end up being attacked for it.

try just giving him a few minutes on his own in another room every time he bites.
Say a firm no, scoop him up, put him in the room and shut the dorr, leave him for a few minutes and then let him out
to start with it'll seem like you're permanently up and down but he'll soon cotton on.
It worked for me with my lab

my 4 month kerry has decided to chew nearly through the dining room chair leg even though he has kongs etc.he also mouths us a bit so i have just started with the stones in pringle tube, give a quick shake when he does something you dont want him to ,whilst saying no.
we also really need to teach him a quick down as he escaped the other day and only stopped as a van was coming round the corner,i have never been so scared.if the van hadnt been there he wouldnt have cowered and i dont think i would have got him back.
