Hi
We have a yorkshire Terrier love him to bits. He is treated so well he dont know how lucky he is... Infact I think he is treated so well it has started this problem I have... He is one of 2 they are brothers Tommy and Jimmy.. Both are treated the same do everything togeather , run of the house etc ...
But Tommy has this thing of going in the corner or not coming in from out side or just stops and he just shakes.. He could be happy as anything after a great day out with us all and his brother Jimmy.. Then he just turn and start to shake even does it on all our knees etc.. It is strange to why he does this we think he is seeking fuess yet when we give it to him he does it even more... He is in teams of been treated well a cos I love my dogs all ways have....
So please does any one have any ideas on why he shakes ??? He has no reason to be worried or scared he is spoiled with toys , food , does everything with the family...
It gets his brother down sometimes cos he dont want to do anything sometimes just sits and shakes..
Thank you
BEN

hi Ben, not being an expert i would say take him straight to the vet to see if he can find anything that might be causing this. if not then try an animal behaviourist
someone more knowledgeable will be along soon i'm sure but if in doubt then definately get him down to the vets.

Thistle ( 2 year old lab) does this sometimes. I know it sounds harsh, but you must completely ignore it or you are re-inforcing the behaviour and it will get worse and worse. Of course you must be sure that there's nothing physically wrong. I don't know why Thistle does it but she is just very sensitive and something small that we haven't noticed sparks it off.

I agree on the vet check in case.
I knew a small JRT who shook sometimes, just for 30 sseconds or so; again no real reason, she just did :) She was doing it until she died at 14. If the dog is shaking lots and for some time, definitely get a check up.
Good luck

Have seen this in a few small dogs, don't know if it is connected to size or is more noticeable in a very small dog.

Ben,
I would take your dog to the vet. Shaking or tremors may be low grade epilepsy.
