My 1 year and 2 month old Yorkie wont eat her food.
She always does this... I feed her 1 food for a while and then after a month or two, she gets tired of it and decides she wont eat it eat it. When she did this iin the past, I changed her food. Is this just giving in to her? What do I do?

Well for such a small dog it doesnt matter if you change her food now and again does it so long as she is happy Jackie

i have a male yorkie (3yr old) and he used to do that with food i spent a fortune throwing food away so i went and bought the last variety that was left (he'd tried everything else) which was cesar, when i fed him he sniffed and walked away so i picked it up and offered him it an hour later. He went a full day with no food and i was worried sick but thought i'm sticking to it. The next morning i gave him some more and he ate it all, since then he eats his food straight away. He only likes the cesar in the foil carton tho and not in a tin, and only turkey and chicken flavour. Maybe your dog thinks if i dont eat this i might get something better, i hope this helps! if you dont find a food she likes you could always try cat food, some pple who bring their yorkies to our kennels feed cat food. good luck

hi chair i think jacki is right because i have just gone through this with my spoiled little pup.

at first i thought he wasn't eating because he was on antib's, then i thought it was the heat so i kept mixing in yummy bits of cheese/tuna etc. so of course he wasn't going to eat then! it was getting a bit ridiculous to be honest so i stopped doing that and just his plain ol food down. he sooned started eating again!

what i advised on here which was to put food down for 15 mins, pick it up, no food/treats until next mealtime, continue until dog tows the line! it seems very cruel while you are doing but i was told no dog will ever starve itself when there is food around.

it sounds like a long-running prob so maybe no point in asking the vet to check but it could be an idea (although mine just said archie was too spoilt!)

good luck and don't worry
xx
