I have a bitch right now and she is lovely. She is a Yorkshire Terrier. My couson wh I used to live next to, had a male mongrel and he was lovely aswell. My dog is very loving and friendly, and my cousons dog was very loyal and friendly. If you get a bitch, you can breed from her, and then you would have to have her going into heat but if you got a male, you wouldn't have to worry about him going into heat, however you would probably want to get him neutered, because with my cousons dog, he was very boistres until he was neutered. With a bitch, it costs a little more to get her spayed but it wold help prevent her from getting any infections.
I had planned to get a dog instead of a bitch but I fell in love with my little Milly.
I hope you make the right decision, from Ciara :D

I have had 1 dog and 2 bitches of my own in the past and have both a dog and a bitch now. I was always crap at choosing woman anyway. The main differences are you need to be very drunk to find a dog attractive and when you are very drunk a bitch will empty your bank account.

I havent had much to do with Akitas, but i breed my rotties and i find that the bitches are more loving and loyal to you then the males, as males tend to be a little highly strung, and if they arent desexed they tend to wonder, but i found that bitches are very protective over family members exspecially kids as they are classed as her pack!! no one elses, also i found that females dogs tend to be more cleaner then male dogs which tend to mark everything in sight....... well good luck with what you pick

Don't have Akitas either but when this male or female subject question has been discussed before its always turned out to be more of an 'individual' thing rather than sex thing.I have 2 males(same breed)-one is VERY affectionate ,wanting contact all the time and looking for reassurance from the family and has no interest in any other 4 legged creatures(apart from squirrels!!).The other is an independant little s##t who would go with Jack the ripper if he had a nice freindly dog to play with!!

Beta Complete Puppy Food is a reputable brand used by many people to rear their puppies. Unfortunately, the breeder needs to register your puppy with the Kennel Club. This can only be done if the Sire and Dam are registered and certain code of ethics are maintained. As your pup is only 9 weeks old and you should have had him for a week, can you go and visit the breeder to ask about registration? Rotties usually have quite large litters and it will be unusual if he is not a well known breeder and has managed to home all of his litter by 9 weeks.

Hi Naz,
Beta suits some puppies and not others. If your puppy has loose stools, then Beta may not be ideal, if your puppy is okay, then there's no need to change it.
Only the breeder can register the puppy. Is there a reason why you can't go back to the breeder's premises and collect the papers yourself?

HI JEANGIE THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.EVERYTIME I RING THE BREEDER FOR THE PAPERS HE SAY THE PERSON WHO WAS BREEDING HAS MOVED OUT AND HIS GOT NO CONTACT FOR HER HE IS SORRY. I LIVE IN BEDFORDSHIRE AND THE BREEDERS LIVE IN KENT I CAN NOT VISIT THEM.PLUS HIS GETTING UPSET ABOUT ME KEEP RINGING HIM.I AM STUCK DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THE PUP FROM THEM IS THEY SAID TO ME THEY WERE K C REGISTERED THATS WHY I PAID THEM £500 FOR THE PUP.SAYING ALL THAT I LOVE THE PUP AND I AM GOING TO KEEP HIM.IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE HIM REGISTERED.PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE.THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER BOUGHT A PUP.

Sorry to hear your news. I wouls suggest if you can go back to the house to see if the people are actually those you bought the dog from. £500 is a lot of money for a dog that cannot be register ( IMHO).
I would be either sending a letter( if that is them) telling them to get you the papers or you want a substantial refund.
As val says you yourself cannot register the puppy.
So sorry may be a very expensive lesson. I am sure there is classes where these people go and learn con artist tricks as they are getting flyer and flyer.
Pam

Have you
anything in writing (the advert where you saw the pup, the receipt etc) that says KC Registered? If you have, you must get in touch with Trading Standards and complain. By all means send a registered letter to the breeder (then you'll know whether they've received it) saying that you expect the registration documents within 28 days or you will instigate legal proceedings.
It might just work. Otherwise I'm afraid you may be another victim of a con-merchant. There are a lot of cheats who rely on everyone else's honesty to make them money. And they give everyone else a bad name.
Good luck.

Thanx everyone for your reply's. I have been away picking our wonderful bithch Akita up. She is going to be a stunner. She has only has 3 relatives out of the last 5 generations that have not been a Champions. We have decided that if in 9-12 months things are well we may go for a dog pup as a companion. (better to get the bitch first so as to mother the new dog and 2 bitches tend to compete during season and often fight). She already has a wonderful personality and is full of charm. Her mother, father and uncles (who I have met) all have wonderful temperments and we are sure (fingers crossed) she will share the same traits.
hi,i am glad you are pleased with your akita.i got an akita-inu pup (bitch) my self 6 weeks ago and i would not be without her.i hope you have many happy years with your new friend, they are such a wonderful breed.
