Yes he can. If the bitch is in season, then a trip to vet tomorrow is the way to go.

my now 7 mth old pup has been mounting my lab ever since she came into season when he was3 mths old, he had the tardak injections, to try and see if this would suppress his hormones before we have him casturated, but it hasnt he has calmed down but now mounts everything in sight much to the other dogs disgust, my bitch is due in season soon and fortunely i am able to keep him at work until her season is over, jack is our first male pup and we never realised just how randy some dogs can be at such a young age

Dogs don't read the books :( Don't forget that mounting isn't just about sexual behaviour - it can also be simple adolescent 'over enthusiasm' - he's trying to convince her he's a grown up now.......

Since we're on the subject of mounting i thought i'd share this little observation with you. My now nearly 17 mth Westie constantly tried mounting my arms when he was a pup. I got a big stuffed dog called 'Clifford' (yes the one in the kids cartoons). It cured him of trying to mount me. He LOVES Clifford with a passion. 4 weeks ago he was castrated and i was'nt too surprised that he left Clifford alone for a couple of weeks because i thought he might still be alittle sore in that region. 4 weeks on and he shows no interest in him at all. Well he runs at him ready for action then changes his mind and walks. I did'nt think the effects of castration would be so quick. Or do you thinks he still might be tender ?. The wound is completely healed with no sore looking areas.
Anyone else had similar situation.

My 15 month old cocker bitch has been trying to mount the cat since she was a few months old so it doesn't matter what sex they are! I've also seen 2 young bitches trying to mount each other. Its often a domination issue when this happens.
