Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Tiolet training problems

I have 2 cavaliers. My eldest was paper trained from as soon as I got him to my delight, but my youngest wasn't. Now the eldest goes to the tiolet all over the place as my youngest does too. If i am in the kitchen with them they will use the paper as they get a choc drop for doing so, but otherwise they just "go" wherever they are. This morning my kitchen floor was covered in mess. Has anyone got any advice for me????? Thankyou...also if they are in the gerden 9 times out of 10 they will still come inside to use the toilet. Please help !

How old are they both ?
Are they left alone or unsupervised for long periods ? Also have you cleaned all the *mess* with cleaning agents that get rid of the smell ? Although we cant smell it they may be able to.
I wouldnt let them have access all over the house if this is what they are doing . I would keep them contained to the room that you are in if that is possible . I would remove the paper from the kitchen and I wouldnt give a treat for going on the paper in the kitchen . This habit needs to be broken as they are seeing this as acceptable . I would start by putting the paper as near to the backdoor as possible and gradualy moving it to outside . After the paper is removed from the house ONLY reward for going outside . I would have a nice tasty treat ( we use the Asda treats ) and praise lots as well when they go outside . It will be harder trying to train two than the one . If you see them about to do their business say "NO" firmly and try to put them outside if possible . If they then go outside then treat and reward as I mentioned before . Do not shout when you find the mess if you havent actually seen them doing it as they wont know why they are being shouted at .
Good luck

Thankyou Lel. They are still only young at 5 and 3 mths but the eldest was doing great until the youngest came along ! I only allow them into the kitchen and living room at the moment. The paper in the kitchen is at the back door and sometimes they do go to the toilet outside (not very often). The eldest won't go to the toilet outside if he is out on a walk either. I know that patience is required and I never shout at them for making a mess as they are young still. I will just keep plenty of stock in of kitchen roll and cleaner (I use Mr muscle lemon cleaner as my floors are laminated and antibacterial wipes). Thankyou for your advice

Yes 3 months is still very young and your elder pup probably thinks if its ok for the younger one , its ok for him/her too.
Treat and praise was the method I found best for our pup . He seemed to learn in no time .We used the Flash wipes too as we also have laminate fooring ( an utter godsend when housetraining )
Good luck
