If you don't have a knowledgeable friend to show you how it's done, certainly get the vet to show you.

thanks, we havent had him long and still learning, he his a 18 month brindle staffy, we had him because previous owner was moving and couldnt take him with them, i am really glad we had him. He is lovely well behaved, good temperment and very good with the children. Only bad point is he sometimes go deaf when he sees another dog he wants to play with, so anybody with any advice would be appreciated.

Could you get a local grooming parlour to show you how to do it. It might well be cheaper than a vets and they would probably be good at instructing you.

I have started taking my bullmastiffs down the grooming parlour to have their nails done, it is really good and the last time the lady also bathed Alfie ready for a show and she only charged me £5.00 for the lot, money well spent i think. She now has my custom for all 4 of mine. It has made things easlier and less stressful, as they hateed having their nails done and i wasn't very confident, frightened of cutting too much off.

i use a dremmel for my dogs nails---one of the best inventions yet !!!!!

I have been told that this is a good invention, and i did look at the dobermann web page, where the lady (can't remember her name) gives brilliant instructions, but again i don't think my lot would stay still long enough and as i said before i think it's a confidence thing and i'm not very confident about doing them, and my bullies look lovely in the grooming parlour!!!!!!!!!!

I cut the quick on my baby girl once. :( After that my confidence was shot and now I just leave it for the groomers when she goes in for a trim every 6 weeks or so. In between, road/pavement walking.
