Hi, we have a 15 week old Husky pup and thought we were nearly there with house training him. He will go outside without us going with him (although we watch from the window in case he does anything to give him a praise and treat) to do his toilets if the back door is open. We have also been clean for 1 week during the night with only a little bit of newspaper down (we are trying to discourage him from using newspaper before he thinks this is also his toilet). The problem is when the back door is closed, he doesnt ask us to go out or give us any warning that he wants to go out, nor does he go to the back door. He goes straight round to where he first went when we picked him up even though we have cleaned this area with proper cleaning stuff from the vets. How can we get him to let us know when he wants to go out or to go to the back door.We thought we were nearly there but seem to have gone backwards. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Shannon

I would watch his actions before he goes to the *toilet* . You can usually tell when they need a number 2 for example- Gus always does a circling motion before he goes . When you can tell he is likely to go ,pick him up and place him outside . Then as you say , reward and praise . He is still young so dont worry too much at this stage . It will just suddenly come .
Good luck :)
