I have had labradors all my life and my current lab recently died of old age. :(. i have always wanted to breed them and am going to buy a lab bitch for breeding soon. I know I cant guarantee she will be breeding quality by the time she would be ready to breed as this is hard to tell as a puppy, but what should i look out for in the puppy? also, is breeding quality the same as show quality? what is the difference between the two?

thanks for any help :)

My advice would be to visir some champ shows and look at the dogs .Find the type of dogs you like and look at their lines. You then need to approach the breeders who have produced the dogs you like.Only buy from stock with good results on their health checks since that will give you the best chance of your bitch having good results(combined with being raised right of course). If possible buy from a breeder who you feel comfortable with and stay in touch the when you want to breed your bitch the breeder will be able to help you choose the best possible stud for her.If something is worth doing its worth doing well so take your time and strive for the best bitch possible.
Good luck Archer
