hi, do i need to get my dog insured? she is having her first litter soon and do all the puppies need to be insured too before they go to new homes, or is that up to their new owner to decide?

Hi Guest, I think you will find that regular pet insurance will not cover problems associated with pregnancy and whelping, a special policy for breeding cover would be neccessary. I don't know how much that might be, because the risks are high. As for puppy policies for new owners, I got a cheque book style book of cover notes from Petplan to give to each new owner, the cover had to be activated over the phone as each puppy leaves the breeders premises. The policies are free to arrange, and are for 6 weeks cover. Hope that helps,
Dawn R.
