I picked up my new pup just over 2 weeks ago and within 3 days she was coughing. The vet said it was kennel cough and prescribed Synulox for 1 week. All seemed fine 7 days later and the vet agreed to give her her first jab 7 days later. But after only 24 hrs she was coughing again, so another week on Synulox. Tomorrow we finish the second course of tablets and the cough is exactly the same as when I first took her. It does not sound like Kennel cough (which we have had plenty of times). Also the kennels we got her from do not have kennel cough even with pups from the same litter and a younger litter and we do not have kennel cough in any other dog.
Anyone have any ideas?
I now have a nearly 11 wk old pup who has not even started her jabs and so cannot go out. I am really fed up with this now. She is happy in herself and full of energy infact she rarely sleeps. She only coughs about once a day and normally after drinking water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my litter in oct last had kc which 6 out of 9 die, they were on synulox for a month that was the 3 that lived, one puppy pass the vet check to go to his new home off he went at 8 week,he went to his vet had the injection on the monday bye thurday he had a fit.i had him back on the friday he was not the same dog that went on the monday, give a total refund to the owner to find that he had a bit extra in the injection, saturday morning he had another fit so i took him to the vet to be pts,my vet say the result of the kc and the jab caused the fits,so be aware dont jab untill it cleared up,
plus if the other have not had it could it be the puppie heart, one sign is a cough too.

Hi you say the pups had kennel cough. I have a litter of three the mother and one other dog have a cough and runny nose for which they have been treated but are still the same. Trouble is the 12 day old pups have started with the runny nose so I got the vet to put them on synulox. Would you say its kennel cough? The mothers is a dry sounding cough but the other dog sounds loose and rough. Will the pups be ok.

Hi i have been on to your other thread and yes your dogs do have kennel cough be very careful as it can kill young pups and older dogs you need to go back to vet and get more help for your pups. jackie

Have had her heart checked twice as I had thought of that but it is fine.
Have now started her on homepathic tablets for parvo etc. Her breeder does not jab any dog but uses these tablets instead. Will wait as long as it takes to get her jabbed as have had a pup jabbed who was then ill and diagnosed with auto immune system problems which is believed to have been due to the jab. As my new pup is named Devon after the one with the auto immune problem I don't want to tempt fate.
I remember your litter briedog as I had a litter myself in October and 2 of my adult dogs went down with KC.

Hiya,
As a matter of interest. I had a pup that was on some homeopathic drugs to immunise against parvo as the breeder didn't like to use vaccinations. This was many many years ago, but my pup died, of Parvo, after finishing the course of drugs.
I really think the vaccinations are better.
Take care

Hi Sharon
Devon is still the same and the vet says she must go a week without synulox now and he will reassess her in a week. She is not ill in herself and I'm sorry but I do not agree this is kennel cough. I feel she has scratched the back of her throat, but then I'm not a vet either!!!!!
None of the others have it and Beth my 6 yr old always gets KC if its around and becomes very very ill. She doesn't have it.

Don't worry she is having the homepathic tablets but once she is better she will be vaccinated. I don't mind natural feeding but have not come around to taking the risk of no vaccinations yet.
