There is something we can all do. How many times are you stopped when walking your dog by someone who wants to pet them and then tells you they are looking/thinking about getting a pup? Make sure they know the reasons why they shouldn't support this industry and if they do, they are partly responsible for it continuation.
Perhaps you are aware of the email campaign which is going ahead trying to persuade the Welsh Assembly to stop subsidising dog breeding and the fact that the Scottish Assembly also has plans along the same lines. There is an online petition which if you haven't added your signature to yet, we'd be hugely grateful if you did.

Boosmum,
I could not reply on other thread as could not find it. wording in posts sometimes reads wrong and on that occasion I think it did. I am sorry if you thought I was bing critical of you advice to avoid bad and to find good breeders on the westie post.
My comments were in compliment, honestly, I just wanted to point out or ask you to put a warning about the lists on any site. When you go on the KC site now the link is there for the breeders lists right away or it was last time I looked. I was a bit miffed after my phone call from the person looking for a puppy who again thought that phoning names on lists meant the breeders were genuine. I think now your advice was maybe just the club site only and not the lists.
A battle I sometimes feel like giving up on. Where there is money there is trouble.
My comments were really meant as in a "join forces one" ..if that makes sense.

I only glimsed but I saw something on the Farming grants on Dogworld site , I think it was a complaint from the Kennel club..
Education is really what it takes. Sadly so many people don't want to know and think they know better or don't want advice. For those who do I wished we could get the message to each and everyone of them..

It's really shocking on what lengths people will go to to make a messily few hundred dollars i look at my old girl(my Dog) and think that she has the life!!! sitting on her bean bag infront of the fire, while these poor dogs are going through hell, and no one seems to care.

Well, I did my bit. I was looking to buy a pedigree dog for the first time, and the price of the pups did put me off slightly; but after getting some advice from the people on this site, I went through the proper channels, contacted a breeder, and now I'm posting my deposit for my pup, reared in the correct way, by people who care about the breed.
I'm sure I could have purchased a pup from a pet store for much less, but the money means nothing, when atrocious conditions like those found in puppy mills are considered.

Well done Stu!! :D
