Hello all, do any of you use turtle mats. are they as good as they say they are and do you think they are worth the money that they charge for them. Oh yes, and do the largest size (75x150cm) fit in the washing machine ok. I dont want to spend £110 on 2 of them if they are not all that good :) thanks all. Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I bought a turtle mat (100 x 75 cm) for the back door - 16 dogfeet can bring in a lot of mud! - and after test driving it, had to go and buy one for the front door, too. Brilliant things! They go in my machine no probs (but mine is out of the Ark) and dry really quickly. I'm a fan!
:)

right, so its not all just a load of old tripe then( pardon the pun) its just at £54 a mat I did not want another Turkey. So they do work. Maybe I will buy one to convince Hubby first coz he is not to happy about me spending that much on a "door mat" He'd rather I kept buying new mops and spending a fortune on detergents  typical man  he doesnt do any cleaning, I think he thinks the whole house cleans itself like magic :D wish it did :D thanks for your insight, Sarah

HI there,

I have one turtle mat and a coupel washamats that I got here http://www.carpet-online.co.uk/door-mats/special.shtml

Both are the exact same. the do work and wash a treat. Not sure how easy the big one you mention would go in as it is getting the rubber folder without tearing it.

I have the 50-80cm I think as I have little feet.. ( or my dogs do)

The washamaps were free delivery and I think I got a free mat.

I think I saw them first at Irenes Caravan from here. So that was about 16 months ago and mines have been great. They wash up like new..

Hi Pam, they are cheaper arnt they! did you phone them to order or did you do it on-line? as I cant seem to find where to order on-line. :D probably me being blind again :D Sarah

Sarah.

I called them on the phone, I remember the order took about 2 weeks but they are good.

I have washed mine once a week for well over a year and they are fine, no tears etc.

I think they look quite nice also.

I got the burnt couloured ones can't remember the name. I have them at front , back and patio doors. They have moved from my last house to new house also. ( I left cheaper ones) Well they didn't have dogs.

Thanks Pam, I will give them a ring, I am wondering whether to get a few and maybe tack them to the walls aswell :D My dogs seem to like to rub against the walls as they come in from the garden, leaving lovely black marks :D Its amazing what you dont notice until Hubby says " look at the state of that" thanks again Pam :D Sarah

I get the ones that are called "dirt trapper mats" do the same thing, but a lot cheaper, mine cost for the medium size £12.95 and at shows are a lot more expensive, I get mine locally, I would try some carpet shops first before spending all that money on the "turtle ones". Remember when you are washing them DO NOT put in Fabric Conditioner. Ive had mine for about 5 years now and keep buying new ones, when I see them, got them for the house and the caravan. they are great!!!!!

I brought one of the dirt trapper mats and it definately does not work wish I had paid more and got the proper thing

I bought a cheap imitation that is rubbish. It's coz it's not cotton. I'm going to get cotton next time

LOL
I was going to buy a turtle mat until I got my hands on one and realised that it was identical to my bathroom mat  (cotton with rubber backing) :D so I saved myself a fortune and bought another two bathroom mats locally (one for front door, one for the back) they work brilliantly and I was able to have colours which blended with my decor :)
Of course, I have small feet doing the dirty so that probably makes a difference. Its worth a thought tho :D :D

Well, bathroom mats! they have got to be worth a try :) thanks for that idea :D its rained here this evening and I now have muddy paw prints from the back door, through the kitchen and into the dining room. :( the most annoying thing is I spent 2 hours today cleaning right through the down stairs and an hour of that was just on the floors  you wouldnt even know that I had bothered now  thanks for all your suggestions everyone :D Sarah

I had a look at that washamat. Looks normal to me. lol.

the turtle mats are only any ood if they r the cotton ones. they are doing offers at the moment where u buy one and get one free but they are the nylon ones... have u ever tried towelling yourself with a nylon towel. i have tried the dirt trapper and the similar mat made by magimat and i think the magimat is better... its got a much heavier non slip base and is much lower to the ground so u dont slip over the thing.
