Last night I suddenly realised Darcy was suspiciously quiet, went into the garden and found her tucking into a box of dog biscuits!!!!!!
She had polished off half the box and it was not a small box.
Later that night she was sitting there with her stomach sounding like an errupting volcano and I awoke to piles of very runny disgustingly smelly poo all over my carpet.
We've tried disenfectant but we just cant get rid of the smell
Anyone got any ideas
Have not fed her today to let her stomach settle down, does that sound right, also how long should I starve her for???

Have you tried a steamer and then a carpet cleaner. Thats what I use when Star has the runs. The steamer takes the stain out, but carpet cleaner seems to take the smell away.

Please don't take offence but what a belly laugh your tale gave me. Their such scamps are'nt they.
Hope you get rid of the stink and that the dogs tummy settles down soon.

If it is still runny you can give ur dog keopectate, this helps with the runs (firmer stool)as well as tummy cramps. I gave Dozer (boston terrier) 1 teaspoon twice a day for 2 days, he was firm by the second day. Taz I gave him 1-2tablespoons (158 pounds) when he had bad runs. I only allowed a little food at a time.
Hope ur lil one is feeling better - what an enjoyment the lil rascal had lol :D

HI Protexin Pro Kolin, from the vet, is my stand by for tummy explosions ( for the dogs LOL) Its like huge hyperdermic without the needle - you just squirt in the mouth the right amount for the dogs weight. Its magic stuff and usually only takes one or two doses to see a big improvement. Hope all is back to normal soon and your carpet recovers. You could always buy some joss sticks/essential oil burner - they might give the room/house an improved aroma.

Oh whoops. Sorry had to giggle, been there, played that game!! :D
I wouldn't bother with getting anything special, just leave her for 48 hours, with water. Things have settled down then. However if shes really hungry, some scrambled egg, or plain chicken with either boiled rice of the inside of a baked potato.
Vanish foam works quite well on carpets, but I have recently used a steamer to great effect. Combined it with a proper carpet washer (hired from HRS for £25) and the result was a carpet I haven't seen in a long time.
Its a Labrador. At least it was only dog biscuits!!

Hi there,
I have an obsession with smells just now after having pups a few months back. ( I still smell them in my nose) :-)
Anyway someone gave me a sample of " odour away" think that is what it is called it actually smells like bugglegum when you first smell it. I have to say I didn't want my house to smell of bubble gum neither but once I had used it , it didn't but I was happy with the results.
I will see if I can get the exact details from my freind who gave me it. Maybe somone here will also have heard of it.
Regards Pam.

Hi
Do you mean Odor Kill from Animal Health

Thanks,
Think that is the one. She gave me a sample in a tub so could not remember the name 100% but I know the bubble gum would be the clue :-)
You are right once it is used the smell is fine.
When I had my pups I had a full bit perspex laid on the whole floor so to protect the wood but I don't know if it was my over washing it , some spliage got through and I was obsessed with it, Hopefully it is now gone , I can't smell it now.

Try biological washing powder on the carpets, i have heard that this works very well.
As for the upset tummy, plain chicken and rice with a spoonfull of "Natural bio yougart" works well, i have used this on my bullmastiffs when they have the run's (so to speak) it puts back all the good bacteria into their system.
