are there any breeders at this time , that are looking at or actively seeking to re establish some of the bulldogs original traits, i.e longer legs, muzzles ect.
I have always wanted to own this breed, but bieng aware of the breeds health problems obvious concerns have held me back. please contact darryl on rollthereef@aol.com if you can help.

I dont think so we love the breed as it is thank you, mine run about my fields when i go to feed the ponies yes they can over do it and start to make a noise with there breathing but you just make them rest and they will be fine. we dont have to worry about our bulldogs attacking people or animals when we go out and about ,my bulldogs dont have to wear a muzzle, they love people to stop and make a fuss of them( and they do ) yes we can have problems when it comes to the whelping but not always, so please leave us to enjoy our breed you go and buy some thing else that suits you and your life style. hello
i cant belive that you have posted a question like this! my lot run around thinking that they are greyhounds! if bred correctly and carefully bulldogs are just like any other dog and apart from having to wipe the "roll" on their noses every day i would say if looked after properly they are a low-maintanance breed and if cared for properly they can live to a ripe old age, i was talking to a bulldog club secretary a few days ago and he has a bulldog that is over 12 years old!! and i could hear her happily snoring in the background over the phone!
why would we want to re-establish some of there original traits? we love the breed as they are..and that is loving loyal dogs who may not jump to your every command, but they worship the ground that there owners walk on..if you want to own this breed you are certainly going the wrong way about it, and that is by asking breeders of this lovely breed of dog to do such a thing!

ps, jackie i think he means ones that have longer noses when he refered to muzzles.

oh tanni
i am so so so very sorry about the terrible loss you have suffered..i know how you are feeling..we lost Cass just over a week ago (Cass is the border collie we rescued)..we still have her pups living with us..we couldnt bear to part with them.
we only had her for a short time, but we all got so very attached to her..i would like to think that she was happy with us for the short time that she was here.
now i am faced with a gut wrenching decision concerning one of my dogs:(...pet ownership is far from being easy:(
i really am thinking of you and your family at this terrible time for you all.((((BIG HUGZ)))xxxx
