I have a little pekeness named Muffin (Hence the name!) and I want to breed her with Cocoa, my big black dog. But I don't know if they CAN breed and if they can should I?

I am assuming this is a troll, but I will answer honestly. No, you should not. Breeding is a big decision, and when one decides to take on such a task, they should have researhed long and hard. When you have done that you will know that only two really ethical reasons are availabe. Your Bitch is an amazing representative of her breed and you think she and the stud will make amazing representatives of the breed, or If your bitch had an open Pyometra, but I will not get into that, as you can search for it yourself. There are so many risks involved in breeding that alot of people will not risk it, and I don't believe you have the right information to do so without severly harming, or killing your bitch and her pups. The big black dog, as you so described him would more than likely harm your bitch. With all the complications in pregnancy, I would definitly recommend you not breed your bitch, especially not to Cocoa. I hope I have helped you a little.

guess any advice depends on whether Cocoa is a peke or a rottweiler (big black dog?)

Sam, He may just be a dirty dog :-) sorry I could not help it.
Pam

It sounds to me like he wants to breed his PEKE (Muffin) to a big BLACK LAB or a MIX. Obviously a much bigger dog to a little dog which would definately be one mixed up cross or one dead bitch. :(
I assume TROLL :(
Just my own opinion :)

Well Cocoa is a middle sized chow mix and Muffin is a non pedigree dog. The only problem is all of you gave me late advise becouse Muffin is in heat and she is not alowed inside.
By RudyandMum
Date 21.07.03 02:36 UTC
Ok, let me get this straight, you are keeping your intact bitch, outside, in the middle of the summer heat, where other male dogs can get at her? Please tell me you are at least feeding her and keeping her away from your male...What do you mean by too late?

firstly in your original post you refered to "muffin" being a peke.....and now shes a non pedigree dog? erm excuse me is this a wind up? surely you should know what breed of dogs you own??
if the advice has come to late, then you will do exactly as i intend to do and get your dog to the vets quicksharp to stop any pregnancy that may have occurred.

She is a non pedigree dog and we are feeding her but please don't harp on me! Its not my fault, I want her inside but she scares the cats and poos everywhere. She is also chained up so no other dogs have come yet. If you still want to harp on me fine, but everybody says Cocoa is to big to mate with her. The only two dogs I know that are small enough to is down the road and the other is in Kansis, I am SOOO stressed out! Sorry if I hurt anybodys feelings!
By bulldogowner

she will get used to the cats, i keep dogs and cats quite happily living together, and if she poos everywhere in your house then housetrain her, it is not difficult to do.
keeping her chained up is cruel, why not have a proper kennel and run for her if you wish to keep her outside??
and why the huge RUSH to breed her??? i have a bitch in the house that i did not intend to breed and shes now expecting a litter ,and i cannot sleep for worry for my bitch and the decision that i now have to make for her.PLEASE dont breed you bitch if shes a crossbred dog, WHY would you want to breed her???
theres enough crossbred dogs in the world that are waiting for homes, please dont help cause anymore to be born. it is hard enough finding really good homes for pedigree dogs let alone ones that are crossbred.

I am not trying to breed her. She gets along with the cats but she scares Binx my black cat. For a long time she was housetrained but then she stopped and we have tried to put her in a pen but she is small enough to ALWAYS finds a way out. If you blame me please don't, my parents won't let her in they said she is so small they can't mate with her and Muffin is NOT a crossbreed! She just has no pedigree.

Sorry they don't really care. They let me get on stuff like this but not dirty stuff... not that I would want to.

What I mean is, you do not have authority over your parents, and it is ABUSE to keep a dog out on a chain during her most vulnerable time, where any dog in the neighbourhood can get her.

muffin
you quoted in a previous post that she is a "NON PEDIGREE DOG" i was always led to belive this is a cross bred dog..can someone please correct me if i am wrong????
and if you have no intention of breeding her why quote " but everybody says Cocoa is to big to mate with her. The only two dogs that i know that are small enough is down the road and the other is in kansas".
so by what you have quoted i am led into thinking that you wish her to be bred from, but only you know the real answer to that.

Sorry I am TOTALLY new to this and yes purebreds don't always have pedigrees.
By RudyandMum
Date 21.07.03 04:24 UTC
Jane,
Most `purebreds` without pedigrees are Puppy mill dogs,, I doubt her dog is pedigree, as any respectable breeder would be registered.

Yes the person we got her from was not a very well known breeder.

RudyandMum,
thanks for that :) if you are in america? in england dogs that are non pedigree are called crossbreeds/mongrels.

LOL, g'nite then Jane, have a great sleep, I am kind so I like to feed the needy...Heh. :D
RudyandMum

Rudy and mom,
There are alot of respectable breeders out there that are purebred and not registered. There are a lot of registered ones that are not respectable...I should know because I have talked to both. I bred unregistered boston's long story was explained in another post months back. I do keep in touch with my pups and did a lot of research on the breed as well. I can truely say I put more money into my breed then I ever got out, why? Because I love the breed. My male is registered, and the rest are now fixed except my male who I do stud to proven bitches only. Not all unregistered are puppy mills.
As for this person I do not think u should even be thinking about breeding ur lil girl and u should get her spayed. alot goes into breeding and should never be taken lightly. :(
ttfn :( :)

In reply to your original post, Muffin: yes, they would be able to mate, but Muffin would probably die having the pups. It's not difficult for someone with an ounce of sense to keep her secure. If you can't do that, sell the dogs and get a goldfish

(Dollface, In Canada, any breeder not registered should not be trusted, i's the way it works for us, didn't not mean to offend you, :()

We have goldfish and Muffin has a 12 foot long chain. At one point she was alowed to run without anything, but she started running with Cocoa and then he would abandon her. Plus in a kennel I could tell Muffin did not like it. So please don't say that becouse Muffin is a very happy dog. Don't blame me that she is on a chain, rember I am only a kid so can't tell my parents not to put Muffin on a chain.

But how could Cocoa 'abandon' Muffin when they were running? Surely nobody is irresponsible or stupid enough to let their dogs out unattended? You will either be with them when they are out anywhere, or they are secure in your house/yard. If you can't manage that - I repeat, get a goldfish.

This post just keeps going around in circle's. Definately one way to amuse a troll, sorry people but this is what I think, certainly sounds like one. Just the questions and answers they have gave. Come on a dog does not go into and outta heat that fast. This irresponsible and never had pups from her, come on. A dog in heat stuck on a chain is surely to get pregnant.
Kids try to tell there parents what to do all the time, doesn't mean they get away with it.
Amuse amuse amuse............ Not Amused :(

Well kiddo maybe you need to start educating your parents. This is one big wind up right from the beginning.

Think my earlier reply went to the wrong place. Anyway it is time you started to educate your parents otherwise there is no hope for you let alone your poor dog. This has been one big wind up right from the beginning. I just hope others have learned a little from the replies. It is education that is needed to improve the doggy world.....and FAST.

Iam in canada and have met a couple of non registered breeders as well as registered. Definately most non registered are puppy mills which is very sad and I do not agree with at all. Its hard enough to deal with one breed never mind trying to deal with more :( that is sad I do agree. I think you just have to be careful who you buy off of whether they are registered or not, buying off of any body u should not take it lightly and still go to the person's house see how they keep their animals, how many they are breeding, and talk to the breeder ect, as well as alot of questions. Just because some one is registered does not mean they are trust worthy, they can be just as crooked as the rest.
No offence taken :)
