is it still legal to dock cocker spaniels tails? my spaniels tail hasnt been docked and the hair grows too long on it and it gets so dirty. she would be much happier without it. i know its too late now but when she has her puppies, can their tails be docked?

Hi yes your vet can dock tails( but only a vet) but not many will do it so you need to ask your vet before you breed your bitch if they will not do it there then you need to ask around othe breeders with docked breeds where they go but please make sure it is done properly not just cut and left but cut and sewn clean and tidy, best of luck Jackie.

Only a vet can dock puppies' tails - you'd have to contact the Council of Docked Breeds to discover a vet who would be prepared to do this. To make your spaniel happy and clean, cut the hair on her tail, then it can't get soiled.
