I have recently wormed my 4 month old kcspaniel with panacur granules and I know this may sound odd but she semms to have a complete personality cange, becoming dirty in the house and disobedient .If it was a one off I would dismiss this but it happened the last time we wormed her as well.Has any one ele had a similar problem ?,or do you think I,m being paranoid, she,s normally such a good girl and this behaviour is totally out of character
thanks Lorraine

Maybe the worm stuff upset her tummy which made her mess in the house and then you both got upset , so she seemed disobedient??

There have been a couple of big discussions about wormers and their side effects etc. on the board. Go to archives and have a look, it may be helpful/reassuring.

Try a different wormer, I've one dog who is alergic to one type of wormer but fine with another. JH

I to used panacur liquid on my cocker spaniel pup at 11 weeks and again at 15 weeks. On both occasions she had a complete personality change. Hyperactive, (she is normally so quiet and loving), unable to settle, even if she was on my lap, chewing more than normal and just not herself.
I have since moved her onto a homeopathic wormer that I got from Stock Nutrition. I really don't know how effective it is. Hopefully it will do something. When she is old enough I may try her on Drontal, but reading through past posts on various worming preparations nothing seems to be without its problems. Maybe my girl is just more sensitive to these drugs than other dogs. If you have found a worming preparation that seems to work with no adverse effects I would love to know the name etc. Good luck.

I wormed Thistle this morning with Sherley's one dose wormer. She vomited at 3pm. I phoned the company and they said it will still have worked. Last time I used Drontal and that made her sick as well

I honestly believe Strongid paste is the best wormer , never had a problem I am delighted it is now back on sale here in Ireland. it was gone off market for awhile nothing wrong only to do with export . I am not advising anyone to use it only saying I would have every confidence in it . talk to your vet about strongid and see what he says , if my memory serves me, westie, lover has also found this good . mari

Yes, it is used quite frequently by large kennels in the US and Canada for heartworm preventation. What would you like to know about it? I used it safely for years.
