hi jackie, thanks for the reply about where i can get the batteries from.
do you have 1 of these collars? and if so does the battery seem to die quickly?
and do you know about refilling the unit with water?
thanks weimeraner.

The time the battery lasts depends on the amount you use it so it is difficult to say. If your battery is only lasting a couple of weeks I would return your collar for service as it should do more than that, unless someone, may be the kids, are playing with it and you are not aware. You can use the odourless refill, but you have to have the preasure and that needs to be correct else it could be a danger to you or the dog, so I can't see a cheaper way that would be safe. You will find that the dog will learn that with the collar on he is expected to behave and you will have to use it very little, and in the end the problem will just stop happening because the dog will grow out of the habit.

Daisy, have to say that the site you have a link to charges £5.99 for the mastercollar battery and I pay £3. even think that is more than if you get them from the company of animals.

Sorry - have only used them really for batteries for car remotes, which were a lot cheaper than the garage wanted :(

You need to remove the batteries whenever the collar isn't in use. I believe that MasterPlus had a problem with the batteries used at one point , could it be that you have an older collar? I might be worth you getting in touch with them about it

As to filling it up with water , you would have to get a pressurised water cannister I would think ..as the citronella spray etc is always put into the collar under pressure

You do need to remove the batteries when it's not being used as it's constantly sending out a signal to check for commands from the commander part of the set.

When masterplus were redesigned several months ago to use the new lithium batteries there was a problem with them using up the batteries too quickly. I'd get in touch with the company you bought it from and ask for a replacement.

Its a good job you started this thread as I have just had a Collar donated to our rescue by a fellow champdogger ( thanks dawn B :) ) and have used it straight away with great results but put it away with the batteries in so just took them out thanks for the hint.:) :)

But with ref to above post I thought they were designed for short term use else surely the dog will just get used to it.

You are very welcome. The only reason I knew that was a discussion on another board about it:)

Hope your new one is much better. They are great training tools. I have the anti-barking collar as we needed more for barking then for shaping other behaviours, but I think they are fantastic.
