My female labrador has broken her tail. Although we have seen our vet she shows every sign of discomfort. She even does not want her food. She gets painkillers, but still she does not like to leave her basket for any reason. Please help.

If you are not happy with the advice your vet has given I would take your bitch else where, we can't help with her pain only you or a vet can do that.

If the tail is broken, it is possible for infection to set in even if there is no visible damage.

I've been there. Its nasty.

Please, if she is still in discomfort, get a second opinion, don't end up with gangrene like we did!! :(
