My bitch puppy whose almost ten months has just came into season today (noticed some spotting and she has been more hyper than normal recently), having only a dog before, I would really welcome any advice and would love to know if there's anything I can use to deter the scent???
Thanks in anticipation.

I am affraid nothing will deter a good male nose from snifing her out!!!!!!!!!!!! The best thing you can do is try and not walk her if you have too KEEP HER ON THE LEAD even the most obedient bitch can go hunting for a male when she is ready!!!!!!!!!!

When you take her for walks. try not to let her pee near the front of your home.
Otherwise there is not a lot you can do don"t buy the silly stuff they sell
in the pet stores load of rubbish.
just keep her safe from getting away End of story.

Leigh gave me some good advice when TH had her first season. She was a miserable as sin, go I gave her half an aspirin every day in a cup of tea and she perked up no end (TH that is, not Leigh :D).
Good luck.

9th ... don't know who told you about the aspirin in tea remedy, but I have found a bottle of southern comfort followed by copious amounts of fresh black coffee works better :D (for me that is,not TH) lol

It was you told me to give her half an aspirin to take away those girlie pains. It worked. Dunno about giving her half a bottle of southern comfort though - she's a champagne girl!

Sorry, not guilty :-) It would never have occured to me in a month of sunday's to give a bitch ANYthing for 'girlie pains' !! Is it common practice?
Hope she drinks her champagne from a flute and not straight out of the bottle :P

Oh. I could have sworn it was you. Anyway it worked and she stopped being a miserable little article. Dunno if it's common practice because we've mostly had rescue dogs that were either spayed when we got them or pretty soon afterwards and Al always had dogs before he met me. (That didn't sound right did it? :) )
She'll drink champagne from anywhere she can get it - even a glass on the table. Stinky prefers lager!
