Two standard long haired golden retrievers were mated, with a litter of all short haired pups!!! They are the deep golden colour of the golden retrievers, but with a short coat. Any idea why this might have happened?

How old are they?

WL asked the same question in my mind - they're not born with long coats - they come over a period of a few months.

Is it just me, or has half of this thread disappeared??? I had posted a reply, which Zoe and Pam had replied to; then I had added another post. All three have now gone

No Sarah you are not mad because I read them, I have no real idea why they have been removed without your being notified, but relax you are not going mad.

Think its because we mentioned that we have made websites about our puppies
Shouldnt have been deleted though because neither of us put the website addresses up... Oh well!!!

Surely that can't be the reason, unless you were trying to sell them, must have been a hickup on the site.

No I wasnt trying to sell any thing, nor was Sarah! Sarah I believe was showing the person who posted this thread some pictures of what a Long haired Golden retriever looks like and I said 'Im glad Im not the only one who has made a website about their puppy, was starting to think I was sad' Or something  :(

I don't think we are allowed "look at my site" posts - thats probably why its disappeared :) You could always email admin and ask why its gone? hth chloe

Okay, I've sent an email to admin. As you said, Chloe, 'look at my site' posts are not permitted. I thought the post would be okay as it was in direct reply to the poster's question.

Hickup sounds right Jackie.
Sarah's pictures were of the puppies older also so would be all gone except the one she kept or at least her one . They were good examples of what the poster required clarifying IMHO.
Unfortualty I guess for some of the naughty things that do go on we all have to expereince the same disipline even if innocent.

Okay Sarah. In case you missed my original post, I basically said that Golden Retriever puppies are born with a short, soft puppy coat. That gradually chages to the adult coat as they get older. Dylan is nearly 5 months old and most of his back is now adult coat. You can tell the adult coat as it is usually slightly darker than the puppy coat and more coarse. The adult colour is the colour of the ears.
HTH,
Sarah
