Topic Dog Boards / Health / Hernias!

I recently bought a cocker spaniel puppy, who has a belly button hernia. The breeder (a friend) said she had her checked out by her vet and he said it wasn't a problem and that it would be safe to breed from her later. The hernia is the size of a marble, and it can't be pushed back in, what I want to know is, is it safe to breed from a bitch with a hernia also I've heard that they are inherited!

Does anybody have any comments please

There has been alot of talk on this topic, could try typing in hernia in the search (think that is how it is done). I'm sure someone will be along soon. :)

ttfn :)
