Topic Dog Boards / Health / Boxer aortic stenosis - where to test?

has anybody got details of a cardiologist that can grade my dogs in Yorkshire?

I'm currently setting up all the tests they need to complete before breeding, but am finding it hard to locate someone/somewhere that will Heart Grade my dogs.

I've tried my breeder contacts locally to no avail and my vet also couldn't come up with any practices where i can get this done.

I've read (or i think i have) that this can sometimes be done at breed shows by a visiting cardologist? - did i dream that? I've also had a rumour of one possibly located in Leeds??

Can anyone help and should i contact the Boxer Breed Council for further help??

Jodie

p.s how much is this likely to cost each just as a guide?

There may be a cardiologist that tests in the Yorkshire area.
But I can't find one on the most current heart-list that I have.
Your best bet may be to contact the Northern Boxer Club who
will be able to let you know when they are holding their next
heart-testing session.
If you get this done at shows it costs £7.50 per dog.
I think it is more expensive if you go to the cardiologists surgery.
I don't have the Northern Boxer Club's contact numbers to hand
but they do have a website, if you do a web search it should come
up on that.
