At long last we now have the Kennel Club/Dobermann Breed Council Scheme underway for testing for von Willebrands Disease in Dobermanns. The cost is 90 Euros and from August kits are available from the KC, the July Clinic is being run by the DBC. Clinics will be run on a monthly basis. There was a press release about this in DW a couple of weeks ago but as not everyone gets it thought I would mention it here.
If anyone would like more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Well done Christine. I am sure it will be a huge success. It is a terrible disease :-(
I also hope that ALL Dobermann breeders will now make use of this test as it is so readily available and that EVERYONE considering purchasing a Dober-pup declines to buy from untested parents (or those that don't have at least one Clear in the partnership) as this will also help in getting everyone who produces pups from their Dobes to test and breed accordingly.
Of course vWD should not be the first or only criteria when bitch owners look for mates for their girls but it should become an integral part.
