I have an old cut-glass vase that looks a bit yellowy. Any hints on how best to spruce it up?

I'm told that putting an inch of water and a handful of rice, and shaking it up will clean it.....it won't do any harm, anyway. Report back if it works (or not!).

Vodka

It's pure, and the alcohol cuts through the grease, It's also good dabbed on insect bites, added to water as an emergency windscreen wash ( could have a problem explaining that to the Police), cleaning contacts on electrical equipment, mixed with sugar, makes an excellent handwash.

If all else fails, add tomato juice, tabasco, worcester sauce, salt and pepper, lots of ice; and drink at your leisure ;)

Lakeland do some special small balls that clean crystal, cut glass, and stuff really well.

They've got an online site www.lakeland.co.uk.
