Taken from SkyNews. How can we expect people to look after their animals, when they are stupid enough to do this? The suffering that is caused by some of these people defies belief

BOYS LEFT IN HOT CAR DIE

Two young boys have died after being left in a car all day in searing temperatures in California. The boys, aged five and three, were discovered in the car outside a daycare centre run by their foster mother in the town of Lancaster.

She said the boys had been in her car since 9am. Five hours later, they were dead from dehydration after temperatures reached 48.8C (120 degrees fahrenheit) .

The five-year-old was already dead when police arrived and the younger boy died from dehydration in hospital.

In a similar incident, a 22-month-old boy died after he was discovered in a van at a day care centre. His mother was a co-owner of the centre. And in another case, one child died and two others were hospitalised after they were left in a hot car in North Carolina.

The worse thing is that the three year old would watch his brother dying - its cruel beyond belief. I hope they stick the foster mother in a greenhouse in the sahara desert.

I've never thought of myself as being particularly bright, but really, the utter stupidity of some people beggars belief.

Indeed. Jon says there should be a cull of people as thick as this woman.... I completely agree. The worst of it is she actually runs a nursery - so this is the sort of person other people are leaving their kids with! Sick.

Her excuse at first to the police was 'I thought my husband had got them out' and then actually admitted she had cleanly forgot about them ! :(

The good thing about the american law is they do punish the crime unlike here when we slap their hands and let them go :(

I don't understand how you can forget about your kids for 5 hours.

I have trouble forgetting him for 30 seconds!!

What she has done is beyond belief, but I am amazed that she managed to get a 3 year old to stay in a car. Christopher would be undoing the doors after 2 or 3 minutes.

If I read it correctly then the woman was the foster mother—it wasn't even her kids she let die like that!

I thought that it was the woman with the two children who was the foster mother and that she worked at the day care centre!!! Words fail me.

The disturbing thing is that irresponsable people like this are allowed to foster children in the first place. I just don't understand how this could happen, the amount of checks you have to go through in this country you would have thought they would have picked up on the fact that this women didn't have a brain. Mind you don't know how the system works over there. It obviously doesn't work very well. Children are precious and should not be placed with any old carer.

Quite agree, but look how many childminders and nannies end up killing their charges....and then it comes out in court that they have prior convictions, or at least suspicious circumstances surrounding previous jobs, and they easily cover their tracks. I feel very sorry for any mum who has to work, or wants to work come to think of it, and has to leave her child with what is sometimes a so -called well -qualified stranger.Hopefully, most of the carers are excellent and add to the family, but the ones that seem to pass through an inadequate system must put the fear of God into working mums. Did anyone see the tv programme showing hidden video footage of nannies, childminders etc abusing the kids in their care? Horrifying, and the poor parents just having to sit there and watch...I don't know how they restrained themselves and left it to the law to sort out, I'd have pulverised the culprits....
