Hi everyone, am going to buy a digtal camera at last. I would welcome advice from camera owners. I want a cheapish one and have come down to a Nikon coolpix 2100 or a Fuji finepixA204 both are around £160. If anyone has any personal views/reviews on these cameras I'd love to hear them, or recommend something better maybe at £200 or under. I was looking at the Kodak easy share but you have to buy a "docking system" - (talk about space age!) which takes it well over my limit really. I want min 2 MP and 3Xoptical zoom ( I think!) and movie clips. I have bought a van on ebay - I must be crazy - and we are going off to collect it this morning - wish us luck!!

Hi WL - good luck with the van - I can recomend the Nikon Coolpix. My Dad bought my Mum one at Christmas. It is a super little camera - better than the Kodak we bought my daughter:rolleyes: It's easy to use and packed with good features. You deffo need optical zoom. Digital zoom is a waste of time - yoyr PC does that job for you! and get the best you can afford.
The Fuji Finepix is also good - but I liked the NIkon better - just couldn't get one where we live - hey ho - good luck

Both the cameras you mention are very good cameras and the price is 'about right'. However, the Fuji Finepix a303, now selling for under £200 would be a far better buy. It has 3 million pixels, 3 times optical zoom with a really good sharp lens, and movie mode. If you intend to print out your photographs then the 3 million makes a huge difference to the finished image, much sharper and with better colour satauration. You can find reviews on all these cameras on http://www.dpreview.com and if you look on my home page then you will find plenty of images taken with the a303, Fuji F601, Fuji s602 and the Fuji S2 Pro.

Hi
We bought the Fuji Finepix S304 and have been extremely pleased with it !
It takes excellent pictures and is very easy to use !!
We got it from Amazon as found this was the cheapest place to get it after doing a search on the net.

Thanks for all your replies. However I could not believe my eyes when the post arrived this morning!! It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and my No 1 son who lives in London rang on the day to say HB and sorry he hadn't got me anything - whats new :-). About half an hour after I posted the message on here the postman arrived with a Kodak CX4200 from him. I was blown away - so now I have a camera and must say it is very easy to use. Luckily No 2 son (aged 10) like all kids knew exactly what to do with it and we are snapping away like mad.
By the way the van was a pile of rust and we left it there - travelled quite a way too - oh well thats another lesson learned - will have to sweet talk ebay now as he's going to put me down as a non paying bidder -oops. But really you should have seen it - you could put not only your finger but your whole hand into the body work in several places and pebbles and filler fell out !!! One light shunt and I think it would have fallen apart!! So I am still carless and going stir crazy as hubby has to use mine to go back and fore to work now til we can find something else. Have a nice Sunday everyone - its gonna be a scorcher here.

Post on a Sunday, WestieLover? Gosh! Where on earth are you? :D
Have a lovely time snapping, anyway!

I already have a Fuji F601zoom, lovely camera, but have now just bought myself a Sony P10 5 megapixel, lovely camera, small enough for my handbag, 128mb memory stick can hold 200 pictures on a fine quality picture, obviously using the 5 megapixel I wouldn't get as many, but it's still the best one I've ever had.
