Hi there,

I have tried to become a member of champdogs but something has gone wrong somewhere as i'v not received a password. Iv become worried about my 5 month old border collie over the last two days. He appears to be having breathing fits which stop when we bring his water bowl to him and give him some fuss. He's also sneezing alot, and is sleeping nearly all day when he is normally a very hyper puppy (although when not sleeping he seems fine). He was also sick last night. My partner is saying not to worry as it is only a cold. He says his childhood dog had this a few times and a vet was not needed. I do tend to be a bit overprotective of him as he had suspected distemper when he was younger (luckily a false alarm and it was a harmless bug). What do all you experienced dog lovers think? Am i just behaving like a neurotic mother. This is my first dog

I would seek the vets advice - you can never be too careful and it will put your mind at rest . Just because your other dog was ok , it doesnt mean they have the same illness .

I may be a bit of hay fever, has it just start lately, and the heat might be knocking him out a bit, I know my 12 week old puppy has not been so active and prefer's to sleep in the shade a lot of the time at the moments, has he gone off his food, if you are concerned I would take him for a check just for your own peace of mind. Better safe than sorry

I agree with Britney, it is soooo much better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure it will turn out to be nothing much, but you really should get him down the vet - even if only to put your mind at rest. I hope he's OK.

Would not worry about contacting Admin at this stage I would contact a vet though. People on forums can't tell you what is wrong with a dog but may be able to help once you know, so vet first to find out what the problem is, then contact admin to become a member and we can help you deal with what ever the problem with your pup is.
