Hi, it will be my first time breeding my dogs and also my bitches first time, can anyone advice me on the mating side bacause I am quite concerned about ''the tie'' Is there anything that can go wrong I have heard that the bitch may pull the dog about and damage his penis, if this is so should I hold the bitch while they are together? How long should I expect them to be together and should I just leave them to let nature take its course

I feel you may have a lot of questions to ask, so it would be a good idea if you registered with the Forum to be able to ask away!

Have you an experienced breeder you can call on to help? Maybe your bitch's breeder? It will be easiest if you use an experienced stud dog with a maiden bitch. One of them needs to know what they're doing!

Edit: What breed are they, and have you had all the relevant hereditary checks done satisfactorily?
