Would aprreciate a reply from John(although have posted lab rescue board for john as well) and anyone else.

Have a 10 mth old male lab - submissive behaviour when on lead and meets other dogs, nervy when meets strange people or people walking towards us. Not aggressive at all. Very loving. Very good in the house does not destroy things and is left while we go to work. Max (10mth old) comes from working lines - we have just started to home train him to sit, stay wait and go fetch in which direction we send him for his soft rings - doing well. Now walks well on lead, loves to run out in the woods and hubby says if he meets other dogs he will only approach them for a sniff if they seem friendly otherwise he carries on with run.
Should we get another dog for company for him and to help or not to help him with his ?fear of other dogs. The dog in question is from working lines 13 weeks old fully inoculated and has started basic obiedence training with breeder who is a oldish fellow & his wife - he has three pups left wants to keep one for himself not in hurry to get shut of dogs - works his dogs or should we wait till Max older????
Advice please

Regards
Carole

Hi Carole

I have put a reply to your post on Lab rescue, rather long and rambling but may help a little, or on the other hand may not ! :D

I have 3 dogs-doesn't stop my 18 month old wanting to bound up to anything with 4 legs to play though!!!
I also have a 2 1/2 year old who with perserverence 'grew out' of this behaviour.
I would say training is the answer-not another puppy.JMHO.
However if you want another pup anyway thats a different matter!!
