it is now two weeks and a bit since my girl whelped but she still seems to be losing a murky brown coloured discharge (sorry to be so graphic). how long will this continue? iv tried looking in my doggie books but i can't seem to find anything useful about it in them. i realise she is bound to have some kind of discharge but i thought by now it would begin to become a little lighter. any help or advice as always greatly appreciated! :)

It can last several weeks, gradually getting less and less. Just keep her back end washed, because I found it made all the hair come off the underside of my bitch's tail!

My vet told me that they can have a murky discharge sometimes right up to their next season, so unless it's a 'nasty smelly discharge, I shouldn't worry too much!

As long as there is not large amounts of it its normal, - it can take several weeks to cease completely, but should start to pale in the next week or so. As long as she's happy ,eating well and looking after the pups well I wouldn't worry. I'm really jealous - its ages since we had babies here !! Hope all goes well. :-)
