We have got a 10 week old puppy, who we bought a crate for, but the problem is when he is not in his crate he is walking about urinating all over the place. As we leave his crate door open during the day when in with him he is constantly urinating. A couple of mornings when I have came down the stairs to let him out he has urinated in his bed. I have got papers in the crate right at the door. Has anybody got any advice they can give me?

Do you have papers down during the day for him to go on ?
He is probably too young to go through the night without needing the toilet and at this age they do still need a helping hand on where to go.
From your post it seems you already expect him to know what to do and where . Pups do we alot throughout the day

You don't mention how often you are putting him outside...you don't mention anything other than him weeing when outside the crate - what do you expect - he's 10 weeks old!! He needs to get into a routine, you can't rely on a crate to train him and thats all... register and we will give you more advice :) but you must lower your expectations...

Hi ChloeH I am registered. And I have had pups before and know what they are like, all I was asking for was advice on crate training, not how to housebreak him, as I am well aware of how to do that.

Why are you asking how to deal with him weeing outside the crate then? Housebreak him when he's out the crate, then you won't have to worry when he's in it

Honestly, you just can't help some people can you.

puppies have no control over ''wee's or poo's''until at least 17 weeks, their bodies are not mature enough to send the 'urge' message to the brain until then....you must watch him and take him out at least every hour and after sleeping, playing and eating........if you equate a week to a month.you wouldn't expect a human baby to be clean at 10 mths.....so give a little and lower your expectations

Another word of advice - start praising even at this early age !! :)
