Topic Dog Boards / General / How to say "Go Away" politely
- By lel [gb] Date 07.07.03 16:23 UTC
When we go to Ringcraft and even at some Shows , there is a couple who have a dog that is always snarling at anything that moves . Most people take it with a pinch of salt give that the dog in question is an SBT but netherless keep their dogs away.
The thing that bothers me is that the couple with the dog always come over to say hello and on ocasion let their dog have a sniff of Gus. My heart is always in my mouth because it can go to snap and it really annoys me that they do this . I always pull Gus close into me but they usually say " O he's ok- he knows Gus now" but he does still growl at him and my heart is in my mouth all the time .
How do we let them know politely that we dont like their dog near Gus without falling out with them . They have a little bitch pup now too and she too is snarly like her dad . On Friday she went for Gus while we were all lining up at Ringcraft and my partner was fuming .
Any suggestions ????

If someone is letting their dog too close to mine (especially when I am trying to concentrate) and have the cheek to say that their dog is okay I generally reply that mine might not be. Or you could mention that you can't afford to pay their vet bills this month so could they please move back

Lel you have worded this politely enough... just tell them the same thing... If they take offence... well, sorry they are not worth the grief, and it would be a lot less grief than a visit to the vets and Gus's posssible temprement changes? They more than likely think the dog/bitches show of aggression will prove their dogs are seen to be "proper Staffs" in some judges eyes, unfortunately true :( Could always ask Mr Dix how he would handle it? :)

Hi Lesley,

Why not just nicely pop over an say hello to them without Gus before they have a chance to get to you with the dog in toe.
