Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / demodectic mange

I was called by a friend that works at my vets office yesterday to come see a beautiful dog that was abandoned by her owner. I walked in to find a very sad looking malnourished great dane. My husband and I looked at each other and there was no question that she needed us. I promptly signed in for a complete vet check for our new baby. Medical records show that although her shots were up to date and she was spayed the previous owner has declined to treat her for her mange on more then one occasion. I had a skin scrape done and it is indeed demodectic. My vet perscribed Ivermectin on a daily basis and antibiotics for the next 20 days to treat her infection. My question is....Is there ANYTHING I can do to help her poor back feet on a daily basis to make her more comfortable? They are swollen and just oozing infection!! I have to help her! I have read on the net that an infection of the feet with these mites is the hardest to treat. ANY advice that might help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
