Hi Dizzy, sorry to hi jack your thread Ice Cosmos
My neighbour who's still looking for her shar pei has been offered a male shar pei pup on stud terms. The breeder's charging £100 less for this pup on those terms. Could you please explain what exactly that means and if it's a good idea. This breeder says she's not keeping one of the litter this time, as she doesn't have the room, as so is offering my friend the pick of the litter.Any ideas would be very much appreciated .

sometimes if a breeder hasnt room, or keeps only bitches but breeds a male shed like to be able to use later theyd offer some sort of reduction/partnership etc to make it able for the dog to go to a new home, but theyd still be able to use it at a later date, depending on the person [breeder] and whats been offered, how far away they are etc it might not be worth it, also some might ask that its at public stud too, so you could have all people turning up with bitches at any given time, and then who will the stud fee belong to, the breeder might expect it,
id rather buy one outright ,as £700 doesnt really seem much of a reduction, i charge very little more for mine outright .i have sometimes asked that i can have 1 free stud on a pup i sell [male] but as yet have never ever used it, as i dont have a lot of bitches here , and what i breed is all down from one bitch and in this breed id not go close,
your welcome to mail me at home if you have any other questions .

Thanks Dizzy. I think it doesn't sound a very good idea all round. I'll pass it all on to my friend. thanks again.
