Hi all,
I have been looking at my dogs pedigree certificate and there are a few things on there that I'm unsure as to the meaning. If anyone could help then I would be gratefull. Firstly, does CH before the name mean champion? Also one of the names has DUTCH & INT CH before it, does this mean Dutch and international champion? Don't know if this is right, just what a friend said. Secondly, what does (IMP) mean after the name? Lastly, what does AM CH mean before a name? Oh, just found one more, What does SP CH mean before the name?
Please help,
Louise.

Having a guess here. I think IMP means imported, as for the others........ hopefully someone will be along shortly :D

Yes, you've got CHampion, AMerican CHampion, DUTCH and INTernational CHampion, and I'm guessing at SPanish CHampion. IMP is indeed IMPorted.

Yep all of the above are right

IR CH = Irish champion (or some put it as Ire)
US CH = USA Champion (same as AM Ch)
Nor Ch = Norwegian Champ'
Swe Ch = Swedish Champ'
Can Ch = Canadian Champ'
Ger Ch = German Champ'
Bel Ch = Belgian Champ'
Por Ch = Portuguese Champ' (or some put Port. Ch)
and so the list can go on and on.
But it seems that some of the continental dogs pedigrees do not
even list dogs as champions! Multi Ch is a multiple champion that has won it's title in many
countries. I'm not sure how many countries it has to win it's Champion title in before it's
classed as a Int. Ch :) Sure someone will know though!
If you are researching your pedigrees have a look at the website http://www.boxerunderground.com/uk
and all the dogs tested clear under the UK heart-testing scheme can be found here under their
pedigree names, there's a list for bitches and a list for dogs. So you can see how much of the ancestors
are heart-tested clear, the list has been going about 10 years or so now.
