Topic Dog Boards / General / staffordshire bull terriers???
- By snarfer [au] Date 04.07.03 09:51 UTC
hey everyone :)
would owners of staffies be able to let me know how much exercise a staffie requires daily and what kind of exercise they prefer if not all forms :) (jogging, walking, play, free running etc.) and any other information which you believe would be useful! thanks.

Like the majority of dogs they can take all the excercise you could throw at them, just be sensible. If it is a young dog build it up gradually, but I reckon you would drop before they would :)
I avoid having them jumping up for sticks etc... have seen to many injuries from awkward landings :( Free running I find is best, try and find steep hills etc and have them chase up and down.
Do not ignore roadwork, my lot have learnt not to pull, but I will encourage them to pull for all they are worth when walking up any steep roads or along pavements...it helps toughen the pads, keeps the nails short and stops me blowing for tugs when I get to the top :D

Hiya
Charlie loves his walks, he would walk for hours ( not so much now he's ill though) far further than i could :)
I think staffies love excerice but i think you have to be careful not to over do it.
