hi i am new to the board and i just got a new puppy. She is 1/2 flat coated retriever 1/4 alaskan malamute
and 1/4 german shepherd. she looks like a really fluffy rotwieler puppy. I am having such a hard time picking a name for her so if you all could throw out a few names i would be most gratefull :) and it will be fun anyways :D

where did i get her from.....well about 4 months ago we rescued a flat coat retriver from an abusive home and i was going to get her fixed but before i could she went into heat and my male alaskan malamute/ German shepherd......well you know. and 3 months later we had a litter of 7 puppies. i tryed to keep her seperated from my dog but i have a 4 yr old that didnt understand why the two doggies couldnt play together anymore :/ and yes i know "why wasnt my dog fixed?" well because he was a very sick puppy when he was young and i wasnt able to get him fixed in that state and now he is soo huge it would cost me a fortune wich i dont have :/

What about Maisie?

Why keep another dog if you can't afford to get the one you've got 'fixed'? With 2 females in the house your going to have twice the trouble -he won't care if one is his daughter!!

I'm trying hard not to reply to this post - except to say that I think the poster is extremely irresponsible.

Glad I'm not the only one!

excuse me? that reply was extreemly rude. would you have rather me left the dog with people who were abusing her? and i do plan to have both females fixed as soon as mom stops nursing and baby is old enough. and not having my male fixed was not iresponsible he was sick, he almost died i spent alot of money taking him to the vet! sheesh i though you guys were suposed to help and give advice not to be mean and try to hurt people by saying things like that. :(

oh do stop playing will trolls  you know they always come back with the same repetitive response as soon as you poke them

It was irresponsible not to split up your dogs because your child coudn't understand why the dogs couldn't play together. Its irresponsible to have a rescue dog and then breed from it. Its irresponsible to increase the crossbreed dog population, when there are thousands already that don't have homes. I'm sorry if you don't like it - but thats the way it is.
By snowangel
Date 03.07.03 19:41 UTC
i did split them up, i had the female in the house and my dog out in the yard and they were fine for about a week and a half but my daughter let the female out in the yard with my male even though i told her not to. it was never my intention to breed them. you shouldnt just assume things, its not right, you dont even know me. i dont even know why i am trying to defend myself from you, all i know is i thought i was doing something nice.

i just wanted to say thank you to those of you who have posted names. they are really nice names and i put them on my list :)

DID YOU GET HER FROM THE F/C RESUCE HOME OR FROM THE OWNER WHO HAD HER,ARE YOU GOING TO KEPT THE F/C AND GET HER DONE,,OVER THE LAST 8 YEARS I HAVE 3 MALES AND 3 FEMALES ALL LIVE IN THE HOUSE TOGETHER,AND I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH THE DOGS GETTING TO THE BITCH,JUST WATCHING AND LOCKING DOORS OR CAGE SYSTEM WHEN THE BITCH ARE IN SEASON,JUST LIKE TO SAY IT NICE THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN HER ON FROM THE ABUSED HOME BUT IF YOU KNOW IT HAPPEN WHY DIDNT YOU TAKE HER TO THE VETS TO HAVE HER INJECTED,TO STOP THE PREGNANY,IF YOU CANNOT KEEP HER PLEASE LET ME KNOW,PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN TO HER F/C ARE ARE BREED THAT ARE KIND AND GENTLE AND JUST WANT TO PLEASE YOU.JUST GET HER DONE.
By snowangel
Date 03.07.03 21:17 UTC
i got her from the owner that was abusing her and i didnt take her to the vet to get the shot because i didnt know there was a shot for that and i also thought i had caught her in time and put her back in the house she was only outside for a very short time before i noticed she was not in the house. you cant tell if a dog is pregnant unless you actualy see them mate or untill they start to show. and no its not going to happen again i already have an appointment set to have her fixed after she is done nursing. and puppy must be 4 months old to have her fixed.

if at anytime the f/c comes a problem to you please give me a call i be willing to help out, where are you base in the uk,do you know her breeding lines and how old is she,she black or liver, she cannot be sapayed untill 3 months after the puppie and the puppy you are keeping should be at lease 6 to 12 months before being done, reseach as shown that in the usa where they were beening done early cause problem, with bones, growth plates and alot more,so beware,i only intested in the welfare of the f/c has this is my breed, and i been in the bred for 17 years,
By snowangel
Date 03.07.03 22:35 UTC
i dont know her breeding lines but the vet says she looks to be about 2 yrs old she is all black except for she has a white streek running from her chin to her chest. she may be mixed with something because i have done alot of research on F/C and have not seen one that had white on them. and she is slightly less fluffy than the ones i have seen.

in my liver litter i had 3 with white dots on they chest you can get white on them but not a long streek, not all f/c have wavey or like you say fluffy,my lines are fine striaght silky bit like a setter.
some people think that their dog looks a f/c but some time the dog is croos with a collieX cross i see what you are saying she may be a cross,
you could send a photo of her by email to me if you like to see if she is a f/c.you can see my lot under the f/c breed on this site under glenturret to see if she looks like a ture f/c.

Briedog,
I think from the use of the words "heat" [$ "shots" that the poster is in the States, so F/C rescue here would be of no use...and thast's all I'm saying on the matter!!!!! ])

thank you.

I'm not assuming anything - I am going on what you told us. If I had an accidental mating with a crossbreed rescue, then I would be the first to admit I had not been responsible enough to avoid it - thats all!

And how many times is it ok to be irresponsible ? :(
By madaboutboxers
Date 03.07.03 21:16 UTC
Don't want to get into the irresponsible debate, but I do think Pepsi is a really nice name and my hubby thinks Tara (but then again he never has been good at picking names, lol).
Just wondered what names you have been thinking about. Louise and Gary.
By snowangel
Date 03.07.03 21:20 UTC
that is a cute name :) the names we were thinking of are Isabel, Zoe, Bailey, and Talie
but i like all the names all of you suggested also :)
By madaboutboxers
Date 03.07.03 21:47 UTC
I think Bailey is a really nice name, it helps its my fave drink tho. Not keen on Isabel though. Let us know what you decide and how she is gettin on. Lou n Gary.

We though for age's when we got the last pups, we had just worked it all out, but when we got them in the car on the way home the names just seemed to come to match the dogs temprements, and all the thinking had been a waste of time.Chloe and Tamara were among our top's. but it ended up Britney as revenge for my husband having Britney Spears posters in his workshop, a dogue de bordeaux named britney seemed just right, his dog I named it!
By snowangel
Date 03.07.03 22:51 UTC
lol thats a cute story i dunno why i am having such a hard time naming her it was easy to name my alaskan malamute/ german shepherd pup. the first day i had him i knew his name was Chance. and i didnt even make a list.

How about Fait,Faith, Emma, Cuervo, Gypsy, shinook(sp), Rosella, Burla,
Congratts on getting them fixed soon. I had my youngest fixed at 5 months and both are doing great. I fixed a male and a female at that age. Chance lol he had a big one thats all it took was one chance lol :D sorry couldn't help myself :D

At the risk of being hi-jacked and thrown off this site, there are far too many people too quick to judge and quite confrontational, hence the reason why people leave to join other sites! I am a novice dog owner, but can't quite believe the way some people here speak to one another, jmho - if you get your dog spayed then that's good, mistakes are allowed....well done for being honest, plenty wouldn't be
Hi Bagpuss
I know the point you're trying to make. I guess people get very emotive where dogs are concerned, plus it's sometimes difficult to tell the difference between a troll and a naive dog owner.

thank you for understanding

thank you for the email and photo yes she a f/c she so pretty, are you base in the states.
By snowangel
Date 04.07.03 20:51 UTC
yes i am from the states :) and CeeCee says thank you for your nice comment. she is a good dog but still shows signs of being abused for example she cowers when you make a sudden movement. and one time she got out of the fence to chase another dog and i yelled at her to come back and she ran further away from me untill i tryed using a nice calm tone then she came back nervously like i was going to beat her. :/
oh and the puppies are nursing her to death and i feed her good food and even some left over table food and i can now feel every bone in her body. any suggstions? she gets plenty of water and i let her eat when ever she is hungry.

wispa my bitch had her litter in april she looking great,i feed her on nutro, lamb /rice,good beef, scamble eggs, tin fish, high protin diet while she is feeding the puppies wispa feed the puppie up to 8 weeks old she a very good mum,lot of excersie, one good think wispa like was whepi a milk formula for puppie and dogs, when the puppie were four week that when i cut down on her in take of food, but she keep her milk supply going for them, she has lost some of her coat but back to her nomal weigth of 34kgs.but she is nearly 6 yers old.a mature bitch,

i am feeding her Iams Large Breed Puppy and she always gets our leftovers after we finish a meal.

At this stage she will be needing
at least four times her normal rations.
By snowangel
Date 04.07.03 22:23 UTC
well i was feeding her 4 cups twice a day but now i feed her everytime her bowl runs out i know she eats ALOT but i havent been keeping track of how much.

beacuse of her back ground with the other home.she may be a bitch that,s nervous, getting use to a new home then beening whelp,it has take it tolll on her,and she young too,how old are the puppies,i am luck with my bitches by 3 month after the puppies are born they can go back in the show ring, wispa did and got bob,

If my pointing out that *any* poster has been irresponsible makes them think harder next time about separating their dogs, or, indeed encourages them to get the dogs spayed asap, then I make no apologies for being abrupt. I don't just say it on here either, if I was to meet anyone in the street who was planning and/or had an accidental mating of crossbreeds I would tell them I thought they were irresponsible also.
If you want to know why - then go look at the posting that Dollface(i think) put up about Sam's story - because believe me, it seems worse in the states than it is here.
Chloe

like you say mistake do happen but should not be allowed happen,i too was a novice dog owner 20 years ago,but doing my homework over the years, looking after dog and bitch together, had two litters which all the parnet are test for eyes ,hip, dna, etc which cost alot of money and to improve the breed,i dont take it ligthly, the reason some people to quick to judge and quite confrontatioal on the subject is they to put allot into they breeds too,it only take one to upset the cart, plus there alot of unwanted dogs out there in resuce centre.not to add more to it.
i agree with you that snowangel as been honest,my only welfare is for the f/c has this is my breed.

I completley agree, but didn't want to say anything in case of a negative response, the simplist of questions get taken out of proportion. I do understand some peolpe are on here maybe to wind people up, but some people are far too quick to judge. I know when i first came came one here to find information out about a certain kind of dog i got shot down for saying the wrong colour of a dog, and i was told i should find out more information before i bought the dog, but the point of me coming on this site was to find out info same as a lot of other people. On the other hand there are a lot of helpful people onthis site with a lot of information to give. Sorry to go on i just had to get it out. Still think it's a great site.

I don't recall you being shot down, Charlie! I remember people giving you advice and information that would make it more likely that you would be taken seriously when talking to reputable, caring breeders....

O.K shotdown is a bit too strong, i felt i was being criticised, peolple need to be a little more open minded and not make assumptions from one question. Just getting off the point are you on this site 24 hours a day coz you seem to know everthing thats going on, i have to say i only came on to ask one question, and now i'm addicted.

It only seems (especially to my family! ;) ) that I'm here all the time! I pop on for a quick check every hour or so.....I really must get a life!
