Hello eveyone,
I have just read through the last 16 pages of posts in the showing board! And I can't get find a simple answer to my questions!
I just want to know how it all works in easy to understand english!!!!!!! simple i'm sure if you speak fluent doggy.
Joking aside, I just don't understand the different classes of showing and the awards given, (I KNOW IF I READ THROUGH ALL THE POSTS i SHOULD BE EXPERT GUESS I'M A BIT THICK!) is there any books/websites designed to answer all the novice questions, I have looked up my nearest ringcraft and i'ts over an 90 minutes each way, I searched the KC site but that doesn't really explain to the complete novice.
I realise it's quite complicated to explain in a forum but if anyone would mind sparing the time to explain (in thickie terms!) or pointing me in the right direction I'd be very gratefull, as it is something I like the idea of doing but don't wan't to make a total P**t of myself.
Thanks

Hi Kelli, there are suprisingly few books on showing, and I am sure I am not up to date. I have a book by Juliette Cunliffe called Show Training for You and Your Dog. ISBN 0 09 174559 4.
Because the Kennel Club are updating and changing the rules it would be difficult for any book to be up to date but the one I have mentioned will give you a good idea and if you join a ringcraft club you will soon start to learn.
You are right, we do speak a different language but you don't realsise until someone asks you what you are talking about. :) But you learn without realising it as you go along and it does not matter if you don't abreviate, people will still talk to you. On the whole you will find most people are helpful and frendly, it does depend what breed you are in. Some breeds are interested in the breed and if a good dog is doing well they are pleased and it does not matter who's dog it is, they are pleased to see a good dog do well. But some breeds are very clicky and do not like people outside their circle to win. Hope you are in one of the more relaxed breeds and have many happy days doing the shows.
Jackie
PS: CC - Chalenge Certificate - 3 under different judges = a champion
RCC - reserve CC : JW - Junior Warant and so on but you don't need to know to show.

Hi Kelly
Your questions (and many more) should be answered in the
Glossary of Terms thread :)
